Are two accidents with 47 deaths “normal”?

In Wednesday's plenary session of the Congress of Deputies, Pedro Sánchez appeared at his own request to discuss the state of the railway system. Or so he had announced. The reality, as usual, bore little resemblance to what he said, as can be seen in the debate video. What has happened is the same old story: Sánchez has lied, claiming that "it is not true that the railway network is unsafe" (saying that after two train accidents with 47 deaths in the last month is a bad joke) and has refused to assume any kind of responsibility for what happened.

But it didn't stop there: Sánchez has blamed these accidents on a very extensive railway system, claiming that the increasingly numerous failures in Spanish railway infrastructure "are part of the normal functioning of a complex and permanently monitored system". So "supervised" that the victims of the Alvia train derailment in Adamuz had to wait more than an hour for help because ADIF headquarters didn't know a second train had derailed. What a supervision!

Sánchez applies his mud-slap tactic

Moreover, Sánchez has done today the same as in all his appearances in Congress: apply the mud-slap tactic, with which he intends to avoid his own filth being noticed by spreading it to everyone. He has turned a debate that was supposed to address the railway system into a socialist rally to evade any responsibility, attack his political rivals, attack the media (specifically The Objective and Iker Jiménez), who are particularly troublesome to the government because of their reporting. criticizing the government's negligence in the Adamuz tragedy, and even justifying his pacts with the extreme left with an exaltation of communism, stating that "in Spain the Communist Party fought and paid with lives for the fight for democracy." And how did he do that, with massacres like Paracuellos and the tortures of the Chekas?

Today's events were a display of cynicism from a prime minister who never engages in self-criticism or takes responsibility for anything, who always blames others for everything that happens under his government's watch, and who uses the "far right" as a crude distraction to avoid discussing his disastrous management and his corruption scandals. Corruption that kills, as these two accidents, with 47 deaths, have made clear.

If anything has become clear in recent weeks, it is that the Prime Minister bears a clear and public responsibility for the Adamuz accident, because that accident took place on a railway network that is the responsibility of the State and is the consequence of a disastrous state of public infrastructure due to socialist neglect. In fact, that accident has exposed all the political miseries of a government that invests enormous sums of money (our money) in propaganda, that is, in self-promotion, but that invests far less money than necessary in track maintenance, and then tries to pass the buck when that situation ends up causing 47 deaths in two serious train accidents.

With his disgraceful parliamentary interventions today, what Sánchez has done is politically equivalent to spitting on the graves of those killed in the Adamuz train crash, a vile act in which he is not alone: ​​his party, the PSOE, his communist partners in Sumar, and his parliamentary allies are complicit. This infamous coalition is what sustains a government whose hands are stained with the blood of 47 Spaniards, who died due to the mismanagement of a cabinet whose president's primary concern is clinging to power at any cost, degrading our public infrastructure and refusing to take any responsibility when this results in the deaths of dozens of train passengers.
