The colossal cynicism of Pedro Sánchez after his alliance with the world's greatest executioners

In the almost eight years he has been at the head of the Spanish government, Sánchez has only written one tweet mentioning the death penalty. Just one. He published it yesterday to condemn Israel, stating that "the world cannot remain silent" about a bill to execute those convicted of terrorism. A bill that I dislike and believe should be withdrawn. I am against the death penalty for the same reason I oppose the crime of abortion: because I defend human dignity, as I already stated here 15 years ago.

What astounds me in this debate is the double standard of people like the Prime Minister of Spain. Sánchez supports legislation that considers the act of killing innocent and defenseless human beings in the womb a "right", and has even promoted a registry of objecting doctors that violates the Constitution, creating blacklists of those who refuse to collaborate in this atrocity. Furthermore, he promoted a euthanasia law that was recently used to execute a young woman because she suffered from depression. But what bothers him is that Israel wants to execute those convicted of terrorism.

I cannot help but recall that in recent weeks the Iranian dictatorship has been executing young people for demonstrating in favor of freedom. These are politically motivated executions, typical of a totalitarian regime that has absolute contempt for human life. Sánchez has not published a single message condemning these executions or rejecting the death penalty in Iran. Not one.

Furthermore, a year ago Sánchez praised the Chinese communist dictatorship. In recent years, the socialist leader has become the main European partner of that regime, exhibiting an increasingly shameful servility towards the dictator Xi Jinping, with whom he has already met on several occasions. Communist China is by far the country that executes the most people each year. That country is subject to a one-party dictatorship, a regime in which there is no separation of powers. Among other purposes, Chinese communism uses the death penalty as a measure of repression against dissidents.

The message that the Spanish Socialist leader sent to the world yesterday was very clear: Sánchez is concerned about Palestinian terrorists, but not about unborn babies or people who wish to die from depression, people to whom his government has offered a "final solution" to end that suffering through lethal injection, something truly monstrous but which, for Spanish socialism, is a "right." Sánchez has also shown no concern for the Iranian or Chinese dissidents who are executed, perhaps because their murders pose no moral qualms for a left that shares with the dictatorships of China and Iran its hatred of the West.

Despite claiming to defend the LGBT community, Sánchez has also not dedicated any message to homosexuals in Iran, who have been condemned to death by hanging for many years, being hanged like dogs for the mere fact of having sexual relations with people of the same sex, an atrocity that did not prevent a shameful act for our democracy: Sánchez accepting human rights advice from that Islamist dictatorship in 2020.

In the end, everything about that socialist leader is like that, a pure farce. Sánchez is an imposter who pretends to defend human rights while remaining silent about the crimes of brutal dictatorships that he openly favors, as we already had occasion to see in 2024, when his party voted against demanding that the dictator Maduro end the repression in Venezuela, while the socialist dictatorship tortured and murdered political dissidents in El Helicoide. And as we also saw in 2021, when the PSOE voted against a condemnation of the repression in Cuba, an island subjected to a communist dictatorship that has been torturing and murdering people for political reasons for 67 years.

Finally, Sánchez has been the first prime minister to decide to form a pact with Bildu, an extreme left-wing party that refuses to condemn the terrorism of ETA and Hamas, criminal organizations that have murdered hundreds of people in cold blood, including children and babies. No other government in the European Union has been capable of such a moral depravity, which demonstrates that the Spanish left has reached a level of moral decay that will be difficult to surpass. And after that, Sánchez still has the nerve to dare to give moral lessons to a country that has been suffering for decades from the very terrorism that his allies refuse to condemn.
