The violence by the far left in La Coruña this Tuesday was not spontaneous and could even be part of an electoral strategy.
Today, during the press conference that the far left attempted to prevent, Vox president Santiago Abascal explained:
"Vox is vying for a parliamentary seat in the province of A Coruña—specifically against the left —and that is precisely what the various groups and fringe factions that gathered in this square today seek to prevent; they have come to the aid of Pedro Sánchez, his mafia, his corruption, and the wave of mass migration—all of which they are complicit in."

Following today’s serious incidents, and during a live appearance on Risto Mejide’s program on the channel Cuatro, Avia Veira, the BNG spokesperson in A Coruña, refused to condemn these acts of violence. Consequently, the show’s host ended the interview, noting that "we live in a democracy, and there are certain ground rules that we must all respect. One of these is that the use of force is only legitimate when exercised by the State’s security forces and law enforcement agencies. Anyone else who uses force—whether they are not a police officer, a member of the Civil Guard, or a member of the military, etc.—is acting in a completely unjustifiable way. If you do not condemn these violent acts, you are justifying those who commit them," Mejide remarked.

Following the serious disturbances that took place in A Coruña—and recalling the act of harassment against Vox in Santiago de Compostela a month ago (which was openly supported by the BNG, with the participation of its youth wing)—Galiza Nova issued a threat against Vox via its Twitter account: "First it was Compostela, and today, A Coruña. As long as they attempt to have a presence in our country, they will find us standing against them." This is an attitude characteristic of the mafia—one against which Vox should take legal action.
Primeiro foi Compostela, e hoxe, A Coruña. Mentres tenten ter presenza no noso país, vannos ter en fronte.

At 14:35, BNG member of Congress Néstor Rego expressed his "pride" in the young people who went to disrupt the Vox event, without writing a single word of condemnation against the violence perpetrated by the far left.
Finally, this afternoon at 2:55 PM, the BNG openly explained the electoral purpose behind these acts of violence: "The far-right is vying for a seat in Galicia. It’s in A Coruña: either the BNG’s second seat or VOX’s first. Let’s stop them in their tracks."
A ultradereita disputa un escano en Galiza. Está na Coruña: o segundo do BNG ou o primeiro de VOX. Parémoslles os pés. #EnGalizaBNG

With this statement, the BNG places itself on the same level as its Basque partners, EH Bildu: a party that threatens its rivals with violence in order to prevent them from expressing themselves freely and, consequently, from gaining representation. A party that displays mafia-like behavior—such as what we have just witnessed—should not be legal in any democratic country. What the BNG is doing reeks of fascism—which is to be expected, given that we are talking about the far-left, which, as I pointed out this morning, is part of the same anti-democratic mirror as the fascists.
