Another crime met with a great political and media silence abroad

Russian terrorism in Ukraine: a large 3-ton bomb hits a residential neighborhood

Vladimir Putin's dictatorship used various pretexts to justify its large-scale invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022.

One of these pretexts was to "liberate" the eastern regions of Ukraine, claiming they were predominantly Russian-speaking. The Russian "liberation" became a form of warfare focused on the extermination of the civilian population and the destruction of cities. Four years ago, we already saw the case of Mariupol, savagely razed by the Russian army.

Since November, the city of Kostyantynivka, in the Donetsk region, has been suffering a very similar ordeal, but this time much of the foreign media and many international political leaders have chosen to look the other way. At the end of February, Russia launched white phosphorus bombs against residential areas of the city (above), incendiary munitions that use a solid chemical substance and whose use against the civilian population is a war crime.

Now, Vladimir Putin's dictatorship has taken its terrorist strategy to devastate that Ukrainian city a step further. Yesterday, images were released showing Russia dropping a massive 3-ton bomb on a residential neighborhood in Kostyantynivka, completely obliterating it. The images were recorded by the Phoenix border unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which operates reconnaissance and attack drones in the area.

"The occupiers are mercilessly bombarding the city, which has suffered for so long, with artillery, multiple rocket launchers, heavy machine guns, and anti-aircraft bombs, practically razing it to the ground. Pilots from the Phoenix border unit recorded another bombing of the city with heavy aerial bombs. At the same time, several devastating attacks occurred that shook the entire city. We are recording these war crimes so that the enemy will not escape punishment in the future," the Phoenix unit stated yesterday on its Telegram channel.

Serhiy Yakovenko, from the Ukrainian media outlet censor.net, has indicated that the Russian bomb used in this attack may have been a FAB-3000. This is a high-explosive aerial bomb weighing 3 tons, designed to attack fortified positions but used by the Russian invaders against residential neighborhoods. "An explosion of this magnitude caused the virtual disappearance of an entire city block. Multi-story residential buildings were reduced to their foundations," Yakovenko notes. Above these lines we can see the explosion, and below we see two images of the ruins of the city, images that are very reminiscent of the destruction of Mariupol four years ago.

As has been the case with other Russian attacks, the reaction of many media outlets and international leaders to this attack is, once again, silence. International attention remains focused on Iran and Lebanon, and many seem to have lost all interest in Ukraine. Just a few days ago, US Vice President James D. Vanece claimed to be proud of having cut off US military aid to Ukraine, while Russia seized the opportunity to intensify its attacks against the Ukrainian civilian population. Reagan would be ashamed if he saw this.

In Spain, while calling for reprisals against Israel for attacking the Iranian dictatorship and Hezbollah terrorists, the socialist Pedro Sánchez remains silent about these Russian crimes and maintains diplomatic relations with the Russian aggressors as if nothing had happened, at the same time that Spain breaks records for importing Russian gas (helping Putin finance his aggression against the Ukrainian people) and strengthens ties with the Chinese communist dictatorship, a major ally of Russia. All this while publicly and repeatedly, Sánchez boasts of being on the "right side of history".
