The ship, owned by the Spanish Army and operated by the Spanish Navy, set sail from the Rota Naval Base on April 20, transporting 200 tons of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, to help this country in its defense against the Russian invasion. The ship has also transported 30 trucks and 10 light vehicles, in order to transport the aforementioned military aid to the border between Poland and Ukraine. It has not been confirmed whether, along with the weapons and ammunition transported, some of these vehicles will also be delivered, nor has the type of weapons and ammunition sent been detailed, which have been provided by the Spanish Air Force and the Spanish Navy.

On April 22, the "Ysabel" made a technical stop at the outer port of Ferrol, to collect nautical charts of the Baltic Sea and a Polish Flag, according to the website Puentedemando.comTrojmiasto.pl has published this video of the arrival of the Spanish military ship in Gdynia:

Trojmiasto.pl has pointed out that NATO military transports usually unload at the BCT terminal (Baltic Container Terminal) of the Port of Gdynia, which is where civilian ships deposit their containers. However, due to the unusual nature of her cargo, the "Ysabel" has unloaded at Dock IX, at the Gdynia-Oksywie Naval Base, where the 3rd Flotilla of the Polish Navy is based.

As can be seen in the video, on its way to Dock IX, the "Ysabel" has passed close to the Polish minehunter ORP Albatros 602, of the Kormoran 2 class (it is the ship that appears in the foreground in the following photo).

In addition, at the Gdynia-Oksywie Naval Base the "Ysabel" has coincided with the ORP Generał Kazimierz Pułaski 272 and ORP Generał Tadeusz Kościuszko 273 frigates, of the Oliver Hazard Perry class, on which the design of the six Spanish frigates was based of the Santa María class, still in service (they are the two ships that appear on the left in the following photo, behind the tugboats).

This is not the first arms shipment made by Spain to Ukraine after the beginning of the Russian invasion on February 24. At the beginning of March, Spain already sent 5.56 mm CETME Ameli light machine guns, 700,000 rounds of ammunition of various calibers and Instalaza Alcotán 100 and C-90 rocket launchers, with 1,370 projectiles for the latter. The military aid unloaded today in Poland by the ship "Ysabel" is the largest arms shipment to Ukraine that Spain has made to date.
