We have been saturated with horrendous images for the past few days due to the catastrophe of the cold drop in several regions of Spain.
Contrary to what usually happens, while in other parts of Spain there was torrential rain, in Galicia we had clear weather. It is strange that in your own country there is so much misfortune because of heavy rain in the east, while in the west the sun shines as if it were indifferent to what happens less than 800 kilometers from my city, Vigo. Here, as in Valencia, the sea is a constant source of life, although sometimes death and pain come from it.
I took this photo on October 12th (click on it to see it enlarged). People were strolling on a pleasant autumn afternoon on Patos beach, in Nigrán, next to the Monteferro peninsula. This image reminded me of a passage from "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry:
- One day I saw the sun set forty-three times!
And a little later you added:
- You know, when you're really sad, you like to watch sunsets.
- The day you saw her forty-three times you were very sad, right?
The little prince did not answer.
Well, I know it may seem frivolous at the moment, but I needed to take a little break and I wanted to do it with this photo. I hope that soon the people of Valencia can once again enjoy such peaceful and beautiful images as this one, but on the Mediterranean coast. Good luck to everyone.
