The president of the PP once again tests the swallowability of its voters

Feijóo's praise for the Junts separatists and what he said about them a few months ago

One of the reasons why politics is so discredited in Spain is the lack of coherence of many politicians.

After distancing itself from Vox, the PP is getting closer to the separatists of Junts and PNV
Feijóo, about the Puigdemont's party: “I am not a political and ideological rival of Junts”

This lack of coherence consists of saying one thing and then the opposite, out of pure convenience, sending the message to all Spaniards that the word of certain politicians is worthless and cannot be trusted, a feeling that sadly for many Spaniards ends up being applicable to all politicians, even those who do not betray their commitments.

For years I have been warning that one of the Spanish politicians who cannot be trusted is Alberto Núñez Feijóo, the current national president of the Popular Party. I have explained many times the deception he made in 2009 in Galicia, promising linguistic freedom and then betraying his promise. A deception because of which 15 years ago I made the decision not to vote for the PP ever again.

Yesterday, the president of the PP once again demonstrated his lack of credibility. In a chat with journalists, Feijóo praised the separatists of Junts, the party of the fugitive Puigdemont and the separatist coup of 2017, affirming that he is "consistent with his ideas", that he has "affinity" with him and that he is a "valid interlocutor" for the Popular Party.

You don't have to go back one or two years to see this new change in Feijóo's discourse. You just have to go back a few months.

On his Twitter account, Feijoo stated on February 8: "As long as Sánchez's government whitewashes Puigdemont and his partners, we will continue to confront them in the streets and in the institutions."

On the other hand, on March 18, Feijóo called for not trusting Junts, stating that this party, the PSC and ERC "are three legs of the same project of institutional rupture".

At a public PP event on May 3, Feijoo accused Puigdemont of "frivolity" and of "believing himself to be the master of the people and insulting everyone who does not share his opinion".

Likewise, in another message on his Twitter account, on August 8, Feijóo stated: "Puigdemont intended to remove Catalonia from the State".

Right now I don't have to make a great effort to imagine what many PP voters must feel. It's the same thing I felt 15 years ago when Feijóo made fun of me, as he did with many Galicians, after asking us for our vote by promising "linguistic freedom."
