An attack by a MEP convicted of attacking and insulting two police officers

The extreme left defames two heroic police officers who tried to save a Senegalese man

The traditional animosity of the Spanish far left towards the security forces is once again entering the realm of defamation.

6,000 killed by policemen for which the extreme left did not protest: guess why?

On December 30, a 43-year-old Senegalese citizen who was selling T-shirts on the street started running when he saw officers from the Seville Local Police, near the New York Pier. The Senegalese man was very nervous and the police tried to calm him down, but it was no use: he jumped into the Guadalquivir without knowing how to swim and two police officers jumped into the river to rescue him. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the agents, the Senegalese man drowned.

According to the autopsy, the deceased did not show "any signs of violence." The Local Police of Seville have indicated that the Senegalese acted in an "unexpected, surprising and incongruous" way and that the two police officers who jumped into the river "tried to save him by all means." These agents risked their lives to save a complete stranger: an attitude worthy of heroes, for which they deserve the recognition of the whole of Spanish society.

There are political parties that carry lies and meanness as their banners. The far-left party Podemos has defamed the police in Seville, accusing them of "racism" and of "criminalisation of those who have less", blaming them for the death of a Senegalese man, despite the fact that they tried to save his life. These defamations were spread by Podemos MEP Isa Serra, who in 2020 was convicted of assaulting and insulting two Madrid Municipal Police officers during a violent far-left protest organised on 31 January 2014.

Podemos is one of the parties that support Pedro Sánchez's government, parties among which is also EH Bildu, which has never condemned any of the attacks by the terrorist group ETA, many of which had police officers and civil guards as victims. Let us remember that, like EH Bildu, Podemos has joined demonstrations in favor of ETA prisoners. On the other hand, this far-left party has demanded the legalization of the crime of apologia for terrorism claiming that it is "freedom of expression".

It is a disgrace that Spain has a government supported by anti-system fanatics like these, who show absolute contempt for the police who ensure our safety, even when they carry out an act of heroism like the one mentioned. All my support to the Local Police of Seville against these defamations.
