Socialism is a perfect machinery to generate political corruption
The most corrupt government in the history of Spain, that of Pedro Sánchez, has just had a new case of political corruption break out.
Corruption in Spain: Sánchez will amnesty terrorism crimes for his personal benefit
Pérez de los Cobos case: a scandal that points to the highest level of the Spanish government
This scandal, known as the Koldo Case, splashes Sánchez, two of his ministers and the socialist president of Congress, as well as the Secretary of Organization of the PSOE. The case consists of the fortune made by a prominent member of the PSOE, which he was part of Sánchez's circle of trust, with the contracts assigned to him for the purchase of masks during the pandemic.
We are not facing the first case of corruption of the Sánchez government. Let us remember the previous ones:
- One of the first things this government did was leaving without funds the civil guards who were investigating cases of corruption of the PSOE, in July 2018.
- Around that time, the judicial shelving was also known, at the initiative of the socialists, of one of the biggest corruption cases in the history of Spain, the case of fraud in training courses in Andalusia, with an amount of 3,000 million euros.
- In 2020 it broke out the scandal of Delcy Rodríguez and her suitcases, referring to a leader of the Venezuelan dictatorship who was allowed to disembark a series of suitcases in Spain without any control and violating the sanctions of the European Union against that dictatorship.
- Then came the illegal dismissal of a colonel of the Civil Guard who investigated cases that affected the socialists, for refusing to illegally reveal to the Minister of the Interior data relating to the cases he was investigating.
- Next came the government's pardons for those convicted of various crimes related to the 2017 separatist coup in Catalonia, pardons that were intended to leave these criminals unpunished in exchange for the support of their parties to the government. Political corruption committed in full view of everyone and with absolute shamelessness.
- After the pardons came the urgent elimination of the crime of sedition and the reduction of the crime of embezzlement, again to benefit the government's allies in exchange of your support. A new case of corruption committed publicly.
- Later the Tito Berni scandal and the Mediator case broke out, which included parties with prostitutes with the attendance of PSOE deputies and businessmen, a case that many have forgotten about despite the fact that crimes of bribery, money laundering, forgery, membership in a criminal organization and influence peddling are investigated around it.
- Before the Koldo Case, we saw the biggest corruption case of all: the amnesty announced by the government for its parliamentary allies, an amnesty that aims to erase without further crimes of political corruption and even terrorism committed in relation to the 2017 separatist coup in Catalonia, once again in exchange for the separatists' support for the Sánchez government.
In Spain we have a government that markets compliance with the law for Sánchez's personal benefit, which is the most blatant form of political corruption there is. Next to that, the Koldo Case seems like a trifle. The incredible thing is to see many media outlets justifying this colossal corruption that is the amnesty for the government's allies, on the perverse thesis that the end justifies the means, since having this corrupt behavior avoids calling new elections that could lead to a change of government.
In the end, what we have just seen is nothing more than an exhibition of socialism, an ideology that seeks to expand the size of the State and the government's control over society, destroying the legal dams intended to stop abuses of political power. By facilitating these abuses, political corruption is also facilitated. What some would have to ask themselves is: what sense does it make to assume the ideological dogmas of the left and then cry out against corruption? These dogmas implicitly imply political corruption, since they facilitate and promote it. Socialism is not only a disastrous ideology: it is also a perfect machinery for generating political corruption.
