Sánchez's communist partners want Spain to pay tribute to several terrorists

The Pedro Sánchez government's flirtation with violence is reaching extremes unthinkable in any other European country.

After last Sunday's violent acts in Madrid, supported by the government and in which those convicted of ETA terrorism and jihadist terrorism participated, now the communist faction of the executive, Sumar (the current electoral brand of the Communist Party of Spain, PCE) takes a step further and intends that Spain pay tribute to Five terrorists. Yesterday, the Official Gazette of the Cortes Generales (BOCG) published (page 7) an initiative by Sumar in which it states the following:

"It is therefore essential that, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the last executions of political prisoners by Franco's dictatorship, all those executed during the dictatorship be appropriately honored and remembered."

Sumar's text cites the names of five people executed on September 27, 1975 and states that "the Government of Spain has already approved reparatory declarations" (in reality, the Sánchez government has only annulled the conviction of one of those executed) of those five condemned and demands "an institutional act of reparation and general recognition".

It should be noted that these five men sentenced to death belonged to terrorist organizations: two were from ETA and two from the FRAP (Revolutionary Anti-Fascist and Patriotic Front, a communist criminal organization). The ETA members were sentenced to death for the murder of police officer Ovidio Díaz López, during a robbery committed by that terrorist group at a branch of Banco Santander in Barcelona on June 6, 1975, and of police officer José Díaz Linares, machine-gunned on March 29, 1975 during a terrorist attack in San Sebastián. The three FRAP members were convicted of the murder of police officer Lucio Rodríguez Martínez on July 14, 1975, at the headquarters of Iberia in Madrid.

Among the promoters of this Sumar initiative is Enrique Santiago, secretary general of the PCE. Let us remember that this party is twinned with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), an organization classified as terrorist by the European Union and which supported the Hamas terrorist attack of October 7, 2023 against Israel. Likewise, Sumar voted against the European resolution condemning that Hamas terrorist attack on October 19, 2023, a vote cast by current Minister Ernest Urtasun.

What's next? Honoring PFLP and Hamas terrorists for their attacks against a democratic country, and against Israel? This government is crossing all the red lines of what is tolerable in a democratic country, now also with regard to the rejection of terrorism. Let's remember, in fact, that among Sánchez's parliamentary partners is EH Bildu, a party that does not condemn ETA's 853 murders, including the murders of 22 children and babies.
