In June 2021, the Spanish Army Airmobile Forces (FAMET) deployed three NH-90 Caimán helicopters in support of the EUTM Mali mission.
The helicopters belong to the 3rd Maneuvering Helicopter Battalion (BHELMA III), based in Agoncillo (La Rioja), and were transported in an Antonov An-124 to that African country, as you could see here. In addition to providing air transport to the Spanish contingent in that country, these helicopters also facilitate rapid medical evacuations for this European military mission in which Spain has participated since 2013, which consists of 700 soldiers from 28 European countries and whose purpose is to train the Malian Forces Armed to combat jihadist terrorism in the Sahel.
