This old military material is found near the coast of Jordan

Aqaba: the strange place where you can see tanks, cannons and helicopters underwater

If you like diving and you ever travel to Jordan and decide to dive into the waters of the Red Sea, you may find unusual things on the seabed.

USS Lexington: un enorme portaaviones de la Segunda Guerra Mundial convertido en museo
Un museo aeronáutico en Alemania que expone un antiguo avión militar español

On your dive you may see British-made Chieftain main battle tanks (called Khalid in Jordan) like the ones in these images:

A Ratel infantry fighting vehicle made in South Africa:

A Ferret armored car of British origin:

A World War II American M-1 155mm Long Tom Howitzer :

And even a Bell AH-1 Huey Cobra attack helicopter, also of American origin:

Although it seems that Atlantis is preparing for war, it is not. This is an original underwater museum inaugurated by Jordan in mid-2019 and includes material from its army, at a depth of between 15 and 28 meters below the surface of the sea.

This military material was deliberately submerged by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority to create a new type of museum that would offer a different experience to diving enthusiasts. You can see here a video that shows some of his pieces:

If you want to see tanks but don't want to get wet, remember that in Amman, the Jordanian capital, you also have the Royal Tank Museum of Jordan, where they show an AMX-30 main battle tank that belonged to the Army Spanish.
