Is accuses the government of putting Jewish communities in Spain at risk

Israel condemns the alignment of Pedro Sánchez's ministers with Hamas terrorism

The government of Israel has had enough of the attitude of the most rabidly antisemitic government in the European Union, that of Spain.

Several ministers of Pedro Sánchez support a demonstration of an antisemitic group that celebrated the Hamas terrorist attack
The antisemitic march supported by Sánchez's ministers: “It is resistance, it is not terrorism”

In recent days, many Spaniards have witnessed with indignation an infamous succession of statements by far-left ministers that they accuse Israel of "genocide" without having condemned the terrorist attack of Hamas, as if the Jewish people should allow themselves to be killed without defending themselves. Yesterday, the scandal grew when several ministers supported a march called by an antisemitic group that celebrated the Hamas terrorist attack, a march spread with posters that erased from map to Israel and in which slogans were chanted justifying the terrorists. Something typical of a regime like that of Nicolás Maduro.

After more than a week of silently enduring these provocations, today finally the Israeli Embassy in Spain has reacted with a statement which, for your interest, I reproduce in full below, translated into English:

Israeli Embassy
Press release

Israel strongly condemns recent statements by some members of the Spanish government

Israel strongly condemns the recent statements by some members of the Spanish government. It is deeply worrying that, at a time when Israel is mourning the loss of innocent lives in the barbaric Hamas attack on 7 October, in which more than 1,300 men, women and children were barbarously murdered, and when more than 150 civilians, including children, women and the elderly remain captives of Hamas terrorists in Gaza, certain elements within the Spanish government have chosen to align themselves with this ISIS-type terrorism.

These statements are not only absolutely immoral, but they also endanger the security of the Jewish communities in Spain, exposing them to the risk of a greater number of antisemitic incidents and attacks.

We call on the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to unequivocally denounce and condemn these shameful statements.

Madrid, October 16, 2023

Yesterday I already warned here that the support of several ministers of Sánchez's government for that antisemitic march could cause an international incident. In the end this international incident has occurred, and leaves Spain as a country whose government sides with the terrorists, which is what Pedro Sánchez's far-left ministers have done with their declarations of the last days.

Of course, as a Spanish citizen I fully subscribe to the statement from the Israeli Embassy, and I cannot help but feel tremendous shame at seeing half of my country's government supporting a gang of murderers and the other half consenting. The ministers who have aligned themselves with the terrorists should not continue another day in their positions. And if Sánchez does not want to dismiss them, then the Spanish presidency of the European Union should come to an end immediately. Europe does not deserve to be led by a government that aligns itself with terrorism and promotes antisemitism.
