Ignacio Escolar's newspaper censors an article critical of queer theory

Gender ideology: first they canceled the feminists and now the homosexuals

The ideological fanaticism of one part of the left is turning, once again, against the rest of that part of the political map.

The spooky ultimate purpose of gender ideology explained by one of its creators
A trans man is accused of 'transphobia' for saying “we are not women, we were not born women”

I say "once again" because this has happened before. Sixteen years ago, I already explained here how Stalinist communism facilitated the rise of Nazism in Germany by attacking the Social Democrats, labeling them "social-fascists" on the orders of the Soviet dictator. A few years later, in 1937, Stalinist communism liquidated the Trotskyists of the POUM and murdered their leader, Andreu Nin, literally tearing his skin off in strips, a common torture method used by the Soviet Cheka.

In recent years, some historical figures of leftist feminism are suffering fierce persecution for denouncing what they call the "erasure of women" with measures such as the Trans Law promoted in Spain by the communists of Podemos, a law that imposes the most radical postulates of gender ideology, specifically the theses defended by the so-called "queer theory". Three years ago I already explained here what that theory consisted of: the erasure of biology when determining a person's sex and its replacement by mere self-perception is enough to change the sex registered in the census and even to subject minors to surgical treatments that are very harmful to their health.

The struggle within the left over the absurdities of queer theory began in the last decade. As I pointed out here in 2018, an internal war broke out in the Communist Party of Spain (PCE) between feminists and queer theorists, with the latter imposing their pro-surrogacy arguments and managing to censor a feminist talk against them. Feminists ended up accusing queer people of "Leninist machismo". Because of these struggles, in 2020 the Feminist Party of Spain was expelled from United Left, due to that party's criticism of the Trans Law. The battle between the two sectors ended violently, with an attack by queer activists on feminists in 2021 in Murcia, amid feminist protests in 18 cities against Podemos' Trans Law.

After the cancellation of feminists, now it's the turn of homosexuals. Last Sunday, one of the digital media outlets most aligned with Pedro Sánchez's government, Eldiario.es, directed by Ignacio Escolar, published an article critical of the queer movement's tenets. The text, signed by a member of the Socialist Youth, denounces that queer activism is "colonizing" the LGBT movement. The author's thesis is easily understood: today, queer activism has succeeded in having what was previously interpreted as a sexual orientation, homosexuality, now categorized as a gender identity, transsexuality. A few years ago, this radical version of gender ideology promoted the erasure of women, and now the erasure is reaching young gay men and lesbians. The author connects both cancellations and ends up questioning the very basis of gender ideology from a leftist perspective:

"The underlying problem is also feminist. Gender is not an inner essence, but a system of expectations, hierarchies, and stereotypes that has historically served to discipline women and homosexuals. Feminism was not born to celebrate femininity or masculinity as identities, but to question the power that these categories exert over our lives. That is why it is difficult to accept as emancipatory a policy that turns gender into an intimate truth and shields it from any criticism."

Many people on the left-wing expressed surprise at the publication of this article in a media outlet that has been aligning itself with queer activism for years. The surprise isn't because there aren't voices on the left that agree with the author's opinion, but because they are systematically silenced, canceled, and censored in the name of an extremist ideology that tolerates no dissent. And this time was no exception: the article was still accessible yesterday morning, but by the afternoon it had been deleted. This is how a certain segment of the left, which boasts of "tolerance" and respect for "diversity," eliminates any disagreement within its ranks.
