For some years now, the Eurocopter EC-665 Tiger has been the offensive spearhead of the Spanish Army's Airmobile Forces (FAMET).
The Spanish Army's Airmobile Forces (FAMET) have a total of 24 units: 18 of the HAD-E attack and destruction variant and 6 of the HAP support variant. This is the first helicopter specifically designed for attack missions in the Spanish Army's fleet, which previously used an armed variant of the MBB Bo-105 for these missions. The Spanish Tigers are part of the 1st Attack Helicopter Battalion (BHELA I), based in Almagro (Ciudad Real).
This attack helicopter carries two crew members seated in tandem: the pilot sits in front and the gunner behind, unlike what is usual in other gunships. The pilot can aim the aircraft's cannon with the helmet-mounted Thales TopOwl, a high-tech piece of equipment that integrates night vision, providing excellent visibility in the worst conditions and with high resolution. The Ministry of Defense has published an interesting video showing this and other parts of the equipment of one of its EC-665 Tiger pilots:
