Earthquakes in Syria and Turkey: this is how you can send help for those affected

Today, southern Turkey and northern Syria have been hit by a series of earthquakes. The first arrived at dawn with a magnitude of 7.8.

Subsequently there have been aftershocks. Also, 9 hours after the first earthquake, there has been a second earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5. The latest casualty counts speak of more than 2,300 deaths: 1,498 in Turkey and 820 in Syria. There are many people trapped under the many buildings that have collapsed from the earthquake and aftershocks, so the death toll will surely rise in the coming hours.

Likewise, the injured number in the thousands and many people have been left homeless. The images coming from the affected areas are terrible. Several European countries have already started sending aid to the affected areas.

Caritas Turkey has already sent a team to the area to assess the damage. Among other issues, the Catholic NGO will have to assess the needs of people whose homes and livelihoods have been destroyed by the earthquakes. Caritas Internationalis has launched a form on its website to send donations to help those affected (click here). Please, I beg you to share it.
