It gives in to blackmail that degrades our democracy and our coexistence

What the left-wing disguises as 'dialogue' is not a virtue, but a cause for alarm

The abuse of certain words by left-wing politicians has been causing them to lose their meaning and become something else.

The left disguises its eagerness to give in to blackmail as 'dialogue'

One of those words is "dialogue." Without a doubt, it is one of the words with the best connotations in any language. After all, we all know that relating through words is better than doing it through violence. In addition, there is a widespread idea: that the ability to reach agreements is better than intransigence and immobile positions in politics.

But what if it weren't? Certainly, having the ability to dialogue with people who have different opinions is essential in a democracy, but we have reached a point where some politicians disguise as "dialogue" what in reality is giving in to blackmail, specifically dismantling the foundations of the Rule of Law and destroying the limits to power to adjust to the demands of those who do not admit that no rule is on their will.

In a democracy, not everything should be submitted for discussion

Contrary to what many believe, in a democracy, not everything should be submitted for discussion. For a democracy to exist, there must be rules of coexistence applicable to all, and these rules must be limited by respect for the rights of the person and human dignity and by respect for the legal system. If these limits are broken, coexistence is degraded and democracy takes an increasingly dangerous drift.

As much as some extol dialogue, there is nothing virtuous in dialogue and yielding to those who do not respect human rights, under the premise that if this yielding does not take place, those extremists could resort to violence . The idea that anything goes to prevent some from using violence is not dialogue: it is surrender. A surrender in which the democrats are defeated and the totalitarians emerge victorious.

The precedent of the Munich Agreements of 1938

It is the same surrender that occurred in the Munich Agreement of 1938, when France and the United Kingdom gave in to Hitler and left Czechoslovakia at his feet, in order to avoid a war. Finally that war came, with the Nazis further strengthened thanks to the capitulation of the Democrats. Sadly, some have learned nothing from history and continue to cultivate the belief that totalitarians must be appeased from resorting to violence.

The case of surrender to the terrorist group ETA

In Spain we have also had surrenders that have been disguised as dialogue. For example, the PSOE socialists gave in to the ETA terrorists in order for them to lay down their weapons, in exchange for assignments such as the legalization of the political arm of that criminal gang and penal benefits for the imprisoned terrorists . The cessions have continued over the years, granting the key to the governability of Spain to ETA sympathizers, who have never condemn the hundreds of murders committed by that murderous gang and that today they pay homage to terrorists with impunity, something that should be prohibited in any democracy.

The surrender to the perpetrators of the 2017 separatist coup

Something similar is happening in Spain with the separatists who supported a coup against the rule of law in 2017, in an attempt to destroy the unity of Spain. Pedro Sánchez had no qualms about seeking the support of the coup leaders and even committed the infamy of granting them pardons (despite the fact that they had not repented of their crimes and even announced that they would do it again) and including changing the law to grant them impunity, which means leaving our democracy defenseless against new separatist coups like the one in 2017, an unprecedented betrayal of the rule of law in Spain.

Criminally benefiting your allies in exchange for their support is a blatant example of political corruption, and the fact that there are millions of Spaniards who have given their support to those who committed this infamy shows to what extent there is many people who believe that anything is worth it for the left to stay in power.

The complicit silence of the European Commission

For the rest, and despite the hopes that many Spaniards placed in Brussels, the European Commission has looked the other way, because depends on the support of the socialists , from the same socialists who are degrading the rule of law in Spain. This is how the Rule of Law is taking an increasingly dangerous path in Spain: under the cynical speeches of those who call "dialogue" giving in to the blackmail of the enemies of democracy.
