A clear indication of what he intends to do if he comes to power in Spain

'Andalusian way': Feijóo shows his preference for the worst version of the Popular Party

For many years, the People's Party (PP) has promised change, but when push comes to shove, there is only a change of acronym.

The PP and the 'Andalusian speech': what will come next in light of what it did in Galicia
The Spanish Popular Party uses its absolute majority in Andalusia to promote abortion

We can see an example of this in Andalusia. After decades of socialist governments, the People's Party (PP) came to power in the Andalusian regional Government in 2018 thanks to the support of Citizens (Cs) and Vox. It soon became clear that the promises of "change" were giving way to something else entirely. The PP and Cs left the socialist ideological laws intact (both the gender laws and the "historical memory" law, created to impose the left's discourse), just as that party had already done during Mariano Rajoy's government. After three years of waiting for changes, in 2021 Vox broke its alliance with the Andalusian PP.

Meanwhile, the government of Juanma Moreno continued to support ideological indoctrination in educational centers, which already existed when the PSOE governed in that region. Meanwhile, Canal Sur continued to be a propaganda channel, simply changing its owners, and continued to squander Andalusian taxpayers' money (it is the fourth highest-spending public television channel in Spain). Seven years after the "change," the left continues to control the channel's ideological line.

After winning an absolute majority in the 2022 Andalusian elections, in September 2023 the People's Party (PP) began promoting abortion in Andalusia, just like the socialists. A few months later, in February 2024, the government of Juanma Moreno did the same with euthanasia, announcing the creation of a mobile team to carry it out. It's the same culture of death promoted by the PSOE, but with the PP's signature.

As if all of the above wasn't enough, in December 2024, Juanma Moreno announced the promotion of "Andalusian speech," a nationalist shift seasoned with tributes from the PP to the separatist Blas Infante. For many, this was no longer a surprise: it's the same thing the PP of Galicia has been doing with the separatist Castelao.

I'm explaining all this because today El Debate and Abc point out that Feijóo embraces Juanma Moreno's "Andalusian path," presenting it as an example of "moderation". Now it turns out that "moderation" means leaving socialist ideological laws untouched, promoting abortion and euthanasia, and fostering nationalism. But again, this is no surprise: it's the same false "moderation" that Feijóo promoted in Galicia.

With his stance today, Feijóo is making it clear that he is betting on the worst version of the PP, the one most aligned with the left and nationalism. This preference indicates the path the PP president will follow if he ever comes to govern Spain. Like Rajoy, Feijóo has no intention of implementing real change: he only wants a change of power, taking Sánchez's place to continue pursuing the same ideological policies as the socialists. After all, the PP has not been a center-right party for years: it is a social democratic party that subscribes to the progressive tenets of the left, even those that underpin the culture of death.
