This Thursday, the training ship "Juan Sebastián de Elcano" arrived at the port of New York, its last stop before returning to Spain.

This visit is part of the XCV Training Cruise of the Spanish Navy training ship. The ship carries on board the 167 who are part of its permanent crew and 74 midshipmen from the third year of the Naval Military School (ENM), belonging to the 425th promotion of the General Corps of the Navy and the 155th promotion of the Marine Infantry Corps.

Their journey began on January 14 in Cádiz and has taken them to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Punta Arenas (Chile), El Callao (Peru ), Cartagena de Indias (Colombia), Puerto Limón (Costa Rica), Pensacola (USA) and finally to New York (USA), the foreign city that this ship has visited the most times, a total of 32. Their next port of call will be the Naval Military School in Marín, where the midshipmen will disembark, and the ship will then return to its base in Cádiz on July 21.

During this stopover in New York, a flag pledge for Spaniards residing in the US will be taken, which will take place this Friday, according to the Consulate of Spain in New York on April 26. Likewise, and according to the aforementioned Consulate has communicated, the ship It can be visited on June 17, 18 and 19 at Pier 86 in Hell's Kitchen, at the following times on three days: from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The ship arrived in New York this Thursday at 8:15 local time, playing the famous "Ganando Barlovento" march, the most popular of the Spanish Navy, as we can see in this video.

The Spanish Navy has published a series of four beautiful photos of the arrival of the ship to New York, which you can see below (click on the photos to see them enlarged). In this first photo we see the "Juan Sebastián de Elcano" with the island of Manhattan on the right. Among all the buildings, One World Trade Center stands out, built after the attacks that destroyed the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001.

In the second photo we see the ship sailing alongside the buildings of Jersey City. On the left we see the Goldman Sachs Tower, a building with a height of 238 meters.

The ship will be moored these days at the aforementioned Pier 86, very close to the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier museum. You can see the location under these lines.
