The management of the company hides behind its employees to avoid criticism

The key data that Correos hides about the 450,000 voters that it cannot locate

When Pedro Sánchez decided to call an election in the summer, when the Spanish go on vacation, he knew what could happen.

The psychological projection of Pedro Sánchez: it is he who seeks to delegitimize the elections
Early elections in Spain: Sánchez, knocked out, entrusts himself to abstention and voting by mail

Correos has not located 450,607 applicants for voting by mail

Yesterday Correos published a statement announcing that "has made available to applicants vote" 2,575,597 electoral documents to vote by mail. However, the note also adds that "450,607 are at your disposal at your office after having made two delivery attempts". In other words, there are 450,607 voters whom the Post Office has not located.

The public company, directed by a personal friend of Sánchez placed by him in charge of it, boasts that "it has already made 98.2% of the electoral documentation available to the citizens", but the most revealing data is that it has not been able to locate 17.49% of the voters who requested it: it is a very high figure, which should not encourage Correos to launch messages as presumptuous as the one published yesterday .

Management uses its employees as a shield against criticism

In addition, that public company has many precedents that we have suffered from its users for years. And it is that Correos has the ugly habit of calling you at home and sending you a notice to your mobile that you were absent before you can open the door for them. It has happened to me a few times and I think mine is not an isolated case. It is one of the reasons why I try to avoid shipments by Post.

The public company ended its statement yesterday by stating: "We reject all those insinuations or information that have called into question the work of Correos professionals. They weaken our democracy ". It takes a lot of cynicism to launch these statements, when It has been the Post Office unions themselves that have criticized the incompetence of the company's management. Management that now uses its employees as shields against criticism.

What weakens our democracy is not criticizing the incompetence of the management of a public company. What weakens democracy is calling elections on a date that seems designed to encourage abstention, and also considering a milestone that 450,607 voters can remain without voting despite having requested it.

The data that Correos hides about those 450,000 voters

Coincidentally, July 23 is in the middle of a festive long weekend in four communities, as Tuesday, July 25 is a public holiday in Castilla y León, Galicia, Navarra and the Basque Autonomous Community. Also coincidentally, two of these communities are granaries of votes for the PP (Castilla y León and Galicia). Likewise, the government knows that in the month of July, many residents of Madrid leave their community, fleeing from the high temperatures. In fact, Madrid is the community with the most requests to vote by mail in these elections, a total of 627,989 (454,877 requests in person and 173,112 via the web).

Well then: in its statement yesterday, Correos did not indicate to which communities those 450,607 voters that it has not been able to locate belong to, nor which cities are the most affected by these alleged impossibility of delivering electoral documentation. And it can be assumed that the company has this data: why hide it?

What you can do if you have not received the electoral documentation

As for the voters that the Postal Service has not been able to locate, remember that if your application to vote by mail has been accepted by the Electoral Census Office, you will not be able to vote at the polling station on election day generals. But if you have not received your documentation, do not cross your arms. Remember that the deadline for voting by mail ends on July 20. If you requested the vote by mail, you can check here (official website of the INE) the status of sending of your documentation. Complete your information and they will send you a locator number. With that number, go to this address on the Correos website< /a> and you will be able to know in which office they have your documentation.

In addition, you can send your case via Twitter to the accounts @Correos and @CorreosAtiende. You can also make the inquiry at any Post Office. If, despite everything, you cannot cast your vote, please, make your case known, either in the comments of this post or on social networks. Do not stay in silence.
