For years, the idea has existed in Hispanic America that the blame for all its misfortunes, including its poverty, lies with Spain.
Spain has become a scapegoat that many Latin American politicians and intellectuals, especially those on the left, use in a demagogic way to exempt from any blame the politicians that the countries of the ancient Spanish America after its independence, which are largely responsible for bringing that part of the continent to its current sad situation.
