For its interest, I hereby publish the translation of the letter sent by the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, to the King of Spain, Felipe VI:

"Your Majesty,

Shocked by the bestial acts of terror that touched Barcelona, Cambrils and Alcanar in so dramatic way, I convey to you, in my own name and in the whole Polish nation, the deepest condolences for the victims of this great tragedy. To all those injured in hospital, I wish the quickest recovery.

Unfortunately, once again, blinded by the hatred of Western values, the assassins decided to attack innocent and defenseless people. These terrible events remind us of the need for close cooperation in the fight against terrorism and aggression. We will never succumb to the destructive actions of coward assassins, and our imperative will remain the strengthening of peace, freedom and security, and the foundations of democracy and the tolerance of European societies.

The Republic of Poland expresses full solidarity with the Kingdom of Spain.

Combining in pain, I send words of highest respect,

Andrzej Duda
The President of the Republic of Poland"

And here is the translation of the letter sent by the Prime Minister of Poland, Beata Szydło, to the President of the Government of Spain, Mariano Rajoy:

"Your Excellency,

On behalf of the Polish Government and myself, I would like to express my sincere condolences for the families and the friends of the victims and those who were injured in the terrorist attacks in the centre of Barcelona, Cambrils and Alcanar. I am deeply shocked by reports of these inhuman acts of terror.

I strongly condemn these tragic terrorist attacks. I believe that the perpetrators of these crimes will be properly punished.

Although it is now the time of tears and suffering, we cannot let the fear paralyse our actions. Europe needs to face such threats together and to show its categorical opposition to terrorists, who seek to impose their ideology of evil through violence and cruelty.

Poland will uphold its solidarity with Spain. I assure you that our country is highly involved in strengthening the security of our citizens and in combating terrorism.

Poland, which builds privileged and alliance relationships with Spain, is fully committed to providing assistance and support to defend our common European values.

Yours sincerely,

Beata Szydło"
