Spain: Vox calls for the annulment of Bildu's candidacies with terrorists and its outlawing

The scandal of the 44 ETA terrorists in the Bildu candidacies for the 28M local elections already has a response from Vox.

This afternoon, the party led by Santiago Abascal has announced that its general representative before the Central Electoral Board (JEC), Marta Castro, "has submitted a brief to this board to declare the ineligibility of the 44 members of the electoral lists presented by EH Bildu who were convicted of terrorism."

Vox points out that this request is covered by article 6 of the Organic Law of General Electoral Regime, which among the causes of ineligibility indicates having been convicted of crimes of terrorism, when this conviction includes a penalty of disqualification. "The letter asks the JEC to check the criminal records of these people so that it can decide that they do not meet the legal conditions to be elected", Vox points out. As a consequence, Vox requests that the candidacies in which they are integrated and that belong to EH Bildu be withdrawn.

On the other hand, in its same letter, Vox requests that the Central Electoral Board notify the State Attorney General's Office so that it "initiates an investigation and, in application of article 9 of the Law on Political Parties, proceed to outlaw the EH Bildu formation". The aforementioned article contemplates among the causes of illegalization of a political party the following:

"Politically complement and support the actions of terrorist organizations to achieve their goals of subverting the constitutional order or seriously altering public peace, trying to subject public powers, certain individuals or groups to a climate of terror. society or the population in general, or contribute to multiplying the effects of terrorist violence and the fear and intimidation generated by it."

So far, Vox is the only political party that has taken action against those Bildu lists with terrorists. The Popular Party could have done the same, but instead, Feijóo has been limited to asking to the government that is it who acts.
