The historic socialist leader criticized the pacts with separatists and communists

With Nicolás Redondo Terreros the PSOE expels the little decency that was left in its ranks

This afternoon, the Socialist Party has taken another step in the North Korean drift that it is leading with Pedro Sánchez.

Puigdemont makes a demand that would impose nazi-style criminal law in Spain

In the midst of a wave of criticism from historical party leaders against Sánchez's willingness to approve an amnesty law, at the request of the fugitive Puigdemont, today the PSOE has announced the expulsion of Nicolás Redondo Terreros, who was general secretary of that party in the Basque Autonomous Community. The alleged excuse for his expulsion is his "repeated contempt" for the party's acronyms.

Redondo criticized the pacts with separatists and communists

It must be remembered that Nicolás Redondo Terreros was the protagonist of a time when the PSE-PSOE distanced itself from nationalismand approached the Basque Popular Party, in the years in which Jaime Mayor Oreja, another critic of nationalism, was in front of him. Redondo has always been very critical of separatism and also with the pacts of the PSOE with communists. In fact, Redondo defended Spain, Liberty and the Constitution in the Basque lands at a time when ETA was dedicated to assassinating constitutionalist politicians.

He also opposed the PSOE accepting Puigdemont's "blackmail"

Redondo has also criticized Sánchez's intention to approve an amnesty following Puigdemont's demands to support his re-election. On September 6, Redondo warned that the PSOE would not be his party if it accepted Puigdemont's "blackmail", and denounced that this amnesty "totally deconstructs the system of '78". The party leadership, increasingly leaning towards the extreme left and increasingly servile to separatism, did not wait for Redondo to leave and expelled him for criticizing an amnesty which was rejected several times by Sánchez himself and by eleven of his ministers, who even they recently considered it openly contrary to our Constitution.

An expulsion that shows the anti-democratic spirit of the PSOE leadership

From the deep ideological distance that separates me from him, I believe that with Nicolás Redondo Terreros the PSOE expels the little decency that still remained in its ranks. This expulsion does nothing other than confirm the autocratic drift of Pedro Sánchez and his party. They do not tolerate anyone contradicting the leader, no matter how much one day he says one thing and then says the opposite. The path that the PSOE has taken is beginning to dangerously resemble the novel "1984" by George Orwell, in which one had to pretend to have forgotten what the party defended the day before every time there was a capricious change of position. With this, the leadership of the PSOE demonstrates a clear anti-democratic mood.

What we have to ask ourselves now is: how many socialists will tear up their cards after this typical action of chieftains? Redondo himself is an example of the extent to which some have endured more than they should. What Sánchez is doing is not so different from what Zapatero did almost two decades ago, when he decided to begin a secret political negotiation with the terrorist group ETA, a negotiation whose effects we are now experiencing with the political arm of the murderers have become a party that holds the key to governability and with which the PSOE has been negotiating for years. Redondo should have left the PSOE a long time ago. Now others have made that decision for him.
