In 2021, communist Sira Rego voted against the release of the Russian dissident

A Sánchez minister rejected a condemnation of Putin's repression against Alexei Navalny

Yesterday the news broke of the death in prison of Russian dissident Alexei Navalny, a new crime of Vladimir Putin's dictatorship.

As he has been doing with other dissidents, Navalny was sentenced to 30 years in prison for "extremism", a political crime that serves to imprison anyone who opposes Putin and his criminal regime. A regime that has accomplices in Western countries, mainly on the extreme left, and even in the government of Spain.

In 2021 the European Parliament called for the release of Navalny

On January 21, 2021, the European Parliament approved a resolution on Navalny with 581 votes in favor, 50 against and 44 abstentions. The resolution can be read here. The resolution called for the release of Navalny and "all other persons detained in relation to his return to Russia, whether they be journalists, team collaborators or citizens showing support." The text also condemned the arrest of Navalny "and his supporters, and the politically motivated repression carried out against them by the Russian authorities, including through the use of the justice system."

The communists Sira Rego and Manuel Pineda voted against

In this document (see PDF) you can see what each MEP voted (page 331). Among the Spanish parties, the text was supported by the Popular Party, Vox, Ciudadanos, the PSOE and the PNV. As is usual in any vote related to Russia, Putin's Spanish puppets did not miss the opportunity to portray themselves: Bildu and Podemos abstained and the two communist MEPs from the United Left (IU) voted against.

Those two IU communists were the only Spanish MEPs who voted against that resolution: Sira Rego, current Minister of Youth, and Manuel Pineda; both are members of the Communist Party of Spain (PCE), which also includes the vice president of the government Yolanda Díaz, leader of the far-left Sumar coalition. On March 1, 2022, Rego and Pineda also did not support the European condemnation of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Three years later Sira Rego is a minister in the Sánchez government

That is to say, Navalny was in prison with the approval of a communist who is today a minister in Pedro Sánchez's government. It is worth remembering, by the way, that in the debate on that European resolution, the MEP Hermann Tertsch, from Vox (a party constantly demonized by that government of which the communist Rego is a member) pointed out that Navalny's arrest is "an insult to all of us, to the entire international community and, especially, to Europe", in addition to criticizing the attitude complacency of Brussels in the face of Russian-allied regimes such as communist China, Cuba and Venezuela.

It is worth asking with what authority Pedro Sánchez dares to give lessons on democracy to anyone, while he has in his government communists like Yolanda Díaz and Sira Rego, members of a party, the PCE, which remains anchored in the servility towards Moscow that it exhibited during the long years of the Soviet communist dictatorship.
