The statistics dismantle the belief of the left-wing in that 'magic wand'

The data that indicates that equality ministries are failing to protect women

The left believes that the existence of equality ministries helps prevent more murders of women.

They knew what they were doing: the far-left justifies the reduction of sentences for rapists
The new favor to rapists approved by the Spanish left-wing with applause

The useless waste of the Ministry of Equality in Spain

That belief is just as strong as believing that the existence of a happiness ministry makes people happier. It is hard to understand how this type of ideological illusion occurs in countries where the effectiveness of a ministry can be measured in data, but oddly enough, this happens. Yesterday, the communist Yolanda Díaz, second vice president of the Spanish government and leader of the far-left coalition Sumar, linked the murder of 9 women with the fact that the Popular Party and Vox abolished equality departments.

Obviously, if the murder of a woman can be attributed to a government, the most responsible will be, in any case, the national government, since in the case of Spain it is that administration that is in charge of two police forces in charge of ensuring public safety, the National Police and the Civil Guard. In addition, in Spain there is a Ministry of Equality in the hands of another communist, Irene Montero, a department with a budget of 573 million euros. What use has this waste in a purely ideological ministry?

That ministry has not served to protect Spanish women

Let us remember that this ministry was created in 2008 and disappeared in 2010. It was launched again in January 2020, and these have been data on women victims of "gender violence" since then:

  • 2020: 29,015.
  • 2021: 30,141.
  • 2022: 36,244.

Regarding murders of women, these are the annual data:

  • 2020: 50.
  • 2021: 49.
  • 2022: 49.
  • 2023 (until August 2): 32.

At this rate, the data for murders of women in 2023 will be very similar to those of previous years. In 2016 there was no Ministry of Equality and there were 49 murders of women. In 2017, also without a Ministry of Equality, there were 50 murders of women. Apparently, the "magic wand" of the Spanish left is not used to protect women. What it is used for is that a lot of associations related to the left receive all kinds of subsidies for politically related entities (LGBT groups have been showered with millions, for example), money that could have been dedicated to protecting women in need.

That ministry promoted a penalty reduction for sexual offenders

It also so happens that a law promoted by that ministry has served to reduce their sentences to 1,155 rapists and pedophiles and release 117 of them, according to data published by the General Council of the Judiciary on July 5. In other words, the Ministry of Equality not only does not serve to protect women, but is also putting them in danger by criminally benefiting and even causing the release of all kinds of sexual predators.

Venezuela: a country with a ministry of equality and a brutal rate of murders of women

Relative data can be compared to statistics published by World Population Review on murder rates of women by country. Venezuela has one of the highest rates in the Americas: an average of 10.4 murders per 100,000 women. Paradoxically, the far-left dictatorship that governs that country has a department with the bombastic name of "Ministry of Popular Power for Women and Gender Equality", an organization dedicated to promoting a left-wing political feminism rather than protecting women, apparently.

In contrast, Panama, one of the Central American countries with the lowest rate of murders of women (1.8 per 100,000) does not have a ministry for equality or women. Following Yolanda Díaz's thesis, Panama should be a country with more murders of women and Venezuela with less, but it is exactly the other way around.

Revealing figures from Poland, Italy, the Netherlands and Croatia

If we go to Europe, we can see that the governments of Poland, Italy, The Netherlands and Croatia also have no equality ministries nor ministries specifically dedicated to women and yet those countries have a rate of 0.4 murders per 100,000 women, less than Spain, which has 0.5. Similarly, the World Population Review statistics indicate that Greece also has a rate of 0.5, but its government does not have a ministry for equality or women either.

What do these data mean? Well, the existence of equality ministries does not serve to protect women. What improves this protection are adequate policies aimed at improving citizen security and making the response of the security forces more agile. Creating propaganda ministries to shower grants to related associations does not serve to protect women. What it does is to turn feminist discourses into a succulent business at the expense of taxpayers and at the expense of security of women, which is what happens in Spain.
