Socialist António Guterres once again exhibits his blatant bias against Israel

The infamy of the UN: it invokes against Israel the article that it has never invoked against Russia

The United Nations (UN) has been exhibiting a blatant political and ideological bias for years.

The socialist Guterres accepts the death tolls released by Hamas as good

The organization, headed by Portuguese socialist António Guterres, has once again exhibited that bias this week. In a letter published on Wednesday, December 6, Guterres has invoked Article 99 of the UN Charter against Israel, alerting the UN Security Council, and does so with the following statement:

"Civilians throughout Gaza face grave danger. Since the start of lsrael's military operation, more than 15,000 people have reportedly been killed, over 40 per cent of whom were children."

Guterres does not explain which "reports" he is referring to, but coincidentally, the figure of The 15,000 deaths that he indicates coincides with the one published by Hamas last Saturday, through the so-called Ministry of Health of Gaza, controlled by that terrorist organization and which has been disseminating alleged death tolls without any independent verification, since freedom of the press does not exist in the Gaza Strip, unlike what happens in a democratic country like Israel.

What Article 99 of the UN Charter says, only invoked four times

Article 99 of the UN Charter invoked by Guterres, a tool of pressure on the Security Council, states the following:

"The Secretary-General may bring to the attention of the Security Council any matter which in his opinion may threaten the maintenance of international peace and security."

The BBC has noted that this is the first time that Guterres invokes that article since he has been secretary general of the UN, a position he has held since 2017. In its entire history, the UN has only invoked that article on three other occasions: at the beginning of the Congo Crisis in 1960, during the American hostage crisis in Iran in 1979 and towards the end of the Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990) in 1989.

Guterres has not invoked that article against Russia

Let us remember that in recent years, Russia has invaded neighboring countries three times: Georgia (2008), Ukraine (invasion and annexation of Crimea in 2014) and Ukraine again on February 24, 2022. In its current invasion of Ukraine, Russia is indiscriminately attacking the civilian population, perpetrating massacres of civilians such as those in Bucha and Izyum, forcibly deporting tens of thousands of Ukrainian children to Russia, developing a terror strategy with missile and drone attacks against residential areas of Ukraine without any military presence and torturing and murdering Ukrainian prisoners, children included.

All of this is a clear violation of International Law, in which Russia has not been content with directing its violence against Ukraine, but Moscow has also threatened to attack and invade other countries, such as Finland, Sweden, Poland and Moldova. As if all that were not enough, just a year ago, Putin threatened to the free world with a nuclear war if it continued sending military aid to Ukraine.

Well: despite all this and the serious threat it poses to peace and security, Guterres did not invoke Article 99 of the UN Charter against Russia, but he does invoke it now against Israel, a country that on October 7 suffered the most serious massacre of Jews since the Holocaust at the hands of Hamas terrorists. Israel is not doing the same as Russia: Putin invaded a sovereign country without any justification or provocation, with no other motivation than his desire to expand his country's power at the expense of its neighbors. On the contrary, Israel is facing a war that did not start, a war started by Hamas terrorists.

Israel accuses Guterres of being "a danger to world peace"

Con toda razón, el ministro de Exteriores de Israel, Eli Cohen, ha declarado:

"Guterres’ tenure is a danger to world peace.
His request to activate Article 99 and the call for a cease fire in Gaza constitutes support of the Hamas terrorist organization and an endorsement of the murder of the elderly, the abduction of babies and the rape of women.
Anyone who supports world peace must support the liberation of Gaza from Hamas."

In a message shared by Cohen on Twitter, Thomas C. Theiner has noted: "Calling for a ceasefire now is like calling for one in 1945... then and now a ceasefire would only serve to save the murderous fascists from being annihilated."

Iran has one of the vice presidencies of the UN General Assembly

The UN's bias against Israel goes hand in hand with situations that are difficult to explain in an organization that claims to defend human rights. At the beginning of June, the Islamist dictatorship of Iran was elected to a vice-presidency of the UN General Assembly, all while that regime, which supports terrorism and denies the Holocaust, dedicated himself to massacring hundreds of protesters who were protesting against the dictatorship of the ayatollahs.

Sánchez, congratulated by Hamas, supports Guterres

As expected, the socialist Pedro Sánchez has shown his support for Guterres. A statement that adds to a display of hostility towards Israel that is setting fire to the relationship between Spain and that country, which ministers of the Sánchez government, who did not condemn the Hamas attack, falsely accused of committing genocide in Gaza.

Let us remember that at the end of October, the Sánchez government aligned itself at the UN alongside Hamas allies, supporting a text that did not condemn the terrorist group's attack against Israel and omitted any reference to Israeli citizens kidnapped by Hamas. At the end of November, Hamas showed its gratitude to Sánchez, a shame for Spain that shows the fact that it has the most antisemitic government in the European Union.
